bone black

Bone Black is a micro-band geared toward Gen-Z and their incessant need to never be stagnant. The ever-changing generation has proven to be a pinnacle of change at every point in their journey; political, personal and social, A brand for them has to be something that helps them express themselves the way they want to.

Bone Black is a temporary tattoo brand where users can paint on themselves without the fear of permanence. A two-week tattoo experience was founded by InkBox, and has been the key inspiration in the creation of this project.

We aimed to create an experience through the packaging that would align with Gen-Z’ers. To do this, we contacted them directly. Through Instagram and TikTok, we created a long list of fun, temporary tattoos that they would like to get if society, permanence and their parents weren’t a factor.

The list was extensive, but the top five were:

  1. Fruit and Veggie

  2. Animals

  3. NSFW content

  4. Queer content

From this, we created a seamless pattern that would work for our socials, packaging and identity. The idea was to keep it hand-drawn, simple, and fun to represent the idea; it’s soooo easy, you could do it too!
